Five test updates for Windows 7 beta testers on February 24
Five updates will be released on February 24 so that Microsoft can test Windows 7's ability to deliver and manage updating itself in certain scenarios.

Microsoft has sent a quick e-mail to its MVPs (Most Valuable Professionals) regarding five test updates that it will be sending out on February 24, 2009 to everyone that is currently testing Windows 7 build 7000. Malware writers continue to get more cunning in their bid to infect out computers. One trend we have been seeing recently is the introduction of rogue anti-virus software. This is software that tries to trick the user into thinking it is a valid security product so you will install and use it on your machine. Ultimately it just opens the door for malware to be installed or demands money in order to fix a problem you don’t have.

A recent analysis of the latest P2P trends wordwide shows that BitTorrent is still the most popular filesharing protocol. P2P traffic in general shows a slight decline, but BitTorrent traffic is still on the rise. It is responsible for more than 45-78% of all P2P traffic, roughly 27-55% of all Internet traffic depending on geographical location.

Pirate Bay fans deface Swedish IFPI site

Hackers have defaced the website of the Swedish music industry association IFPI today in response to the trial against the Pirate Bay.
The page was replaced with a text announcing a "declaration of war" against anti-piracy organizations - an obvious reference to the Trial Edition of Steal This Film, which was released yesterday. The movie opens with a Berlin-based copyleft activist explaining that corporations have declared war on popular culture to protect their intellectual property.
